CC cams will be in operation from Signboard area to Daudkandi on March 26
1 thousand 427 cameras are being installed at 490 places within 265 km of Dhaka-Chittagong highway. The cameras include long vision camera, PTZ dome camera, checkpoint camera and bullet camera. The expenditure has been estimated at 152 crore 56 lakh taka.
Under the project titled 'Highway Police Capacity Building', CCTV cameras will be launched from Narayanganj Signboard area to Cumilla's Daudkandi on March 26 to monitor the reckless speed of vehicles for 24 hours to prevent theft and extortion. The director of this project is Additional Deputy Inspector General of Highway Police Barkat Ullah Khan.
According to highway police sources, the highway police is divided into two regions from the capital's Signboard area to Chittagong's Citygate area. 490 poles (camera poles) has been installed on the highway from Daudkandi to Signboard in Gazipur region and rest of Cumilla region will be controlled from 5 monitoring centers. A two-storied data center has been constructed in the Meghnaghat area to store the data from the cameras. There will be a data center on one floor and a monitoring center on the other floor. Apart from this, there will be a monitoring center in Gazipur region. And among the four monitoring centers in Cumilla region, apart from Meghnaghat, there will be one monitoring center each at Daudkandi Highway Police Station, Cumilla Regional Office and Baro Auliya Highway Police Station.
